WGF Hunt & Son
WGF Hunt & Son are real cider producers based near to Paignton, Devon.
Hunts make between 5000 - 7000 gallons of cider each year at Higher Yalberton Farm, mostly from their own unsprayed orchards. These apples had previously been sold to Whiteways, the makers of cydrax.
They sell directly from the farm gate, as well as supplying a handful of local farm shops and pubs. They also offer a postal delivery service.
The Hunts also operate a small camping and caravan site, see www.broadleighfarm.co.uk for details.
I visited Hunts in 2009 and although I could see orchards, I couldn't quite see where to go to get the cider, so it is worth reading these directions should you wish to visit the gate for cider.
From Paignton: If you are heading towards Brixham on the A3022 turn right into Yalberton Road which is beside a large Sainsburys and MacDonalds. Follow this road for about 1/2 mile down into the valley, you will go over a humpback bridge and we are 200 yards up the hill on the left hand side.
From Totnes: If you are travelling from Totnes to Paignton on the A385 take the right hand turning marked Stoke Gabriel once you have reached the village of Collaton St Mary (there is a pub called 'The Parkers Arms' on this turning). Then take your third left, there is a large sign at this turning saying 'Cider Sales'.
