Up the side road just across the road from Charing Cross station. They have a changing range of ciders, one week it was Malvern Magic. Gwatkins Yarlington Mill medium farmhous cider (7.5%) on the day the photo was taken. Butford Farm Perry on 15/9/06, very good indeed. No muzak.
- 10 Covent Garden Kitchen, 61-65 Great Queen Street, Covent Garden, London WC2B 5DA : 020 7734 9990
This restaurant/cafe has just reordered Gwatkin Yarlington Mill and Farmhouse perry. A new 5 venue complex that includes a large 150 seater rotisserie, a non-smoking bar and a woman only membership club. The only trouble is that Great Queen Street only seems to go up to about number 51 so we didn't find it!
- The Coach & Horses, 29 Greek Street, London W1V 5LL
Famous West End pub ('Jeffrey Bernard Is Unwell'). Draught Westons Old Rosie as well as a good range of bottled ciders incl. Aspall and Burrow Hill. Free wifi. Social Media cafe venue.
- The White Swan 118 Fetter Lane, Holborn, London EC4A 1ES
The owner is trying out some draught perries from the three counties over the summer of 2005. Several varieties dispensed via bag-in-box. The same applies to his other pubs, The Gun and the Well - see relevant listing. Warning - this is a City pub with City opening hours, so don't try turning up on a Saturday evening (as we did) - it won't be open. NOTE(March 2006) - No ciders/perries there at the moment, reckon they'll get some in again in the summer.
- Penderel's Oak, 288 High Holborn, London WC1V 7HP (Tel: 020 7242 5669)
Wetherspoon with the usual range of cider and Thatchers Perry. A little plusher than your average 'Spoons, no doubt to suit the nearby City workers. Pleasant no-smoking section on a lower level around the back of the pub. (There's another Wetherspoons nearby, the Shakespeare's Head, at 64-68 Kingsway - not tried yet.) NOTE(March 2006) - Nothing on tap, unfortunately, only bottled.
- Chimes of Pimlico, 26 Churton Street, SW1V 2LP (Tel: 020 7821 7456)
Restaurant themed on traditional English dishes, with small bar seating area at front (welcomes those visiting for drinks only). Cider and perry are the focus drinks-wise, with some draught ciders and others in bottles. Cider trade memorabilia, prints from Westons archive and various pomonas are on the walls. Real ciders on offer include Biddendens Dry and Sweet, Chimes own blend (made by Westons), Old Rosie and Westons Herefordshire Country Perry; all sold in half-pints or 2-pint jugs.
- The Well 180 St John Street, Clerkenwell, London EC1V 4JY
The owner is trying out some draught perries from the three counties over the summer of 2005. Several varieties dispensed via bag-in-box. The same applies to his other pubs, The Gun and the White Swan - see relevant listing.
- The Slaughtered Lamb 34-35 Great Sutton Street, London, EC1V 0DX (Telephone: 020 7253 1516)
Recently added Aspall Suffolk Cyder on tap, very tasty and great for a hot day. Also do food but mainly fish & chips or variations thereof.
- The Peasant 240 St John Street, London EC1V 4PH (Telephone: 020 7336 7726)
Gastropub with Orchard's Wye Medium and Wye Farmhouse Dry in bottles. website
- Williamson's Tavern 1 Groveland Court, Off Bow Lane, London, EC4M 9EH
Addlestones Cider.
- Willow Walk, 25 Wilton Road, Victoria SW1V 1LW (Tel: 0871 984 3465)
Fairly standard-issue Wetherspoon opposite Victoria Station, but with an astonishingly good range of (Westons) cider. Four different bag-in-a-boxes: Old Rosie, Organic Vintage, GWR and Scrumpy. Plus the usual bottles.
