Chopping Apples. My son and I are new on the block. We have already made 20 gallons of cider this year. Tomorrow,12th Nov. Monday, my son is coming over after work to finish off the apples I have collected in my garden. Enough for another 5 gallons. I wanted to prepare the apples ready for the shredder by the time he arrives at about 6pm. My worry is that when I cut up the apples they go brown within a few minutes. Will it be ok for me to prepare the apples and leave them in the bucket for a few hours before pressing. Rod.

A No it won't matter. Apples just do brown - it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with them. And some people do leave the pulp overnight anyway.
