Nominated for deletion

Reasons for deletion:

1. Addlestones does not meet the ukcider definition of real cider even if it is better than some.

2. It's an orphan page (not linked to from anywhere else on the wiki).

I therefore suggest that this page could be deleted and the information moved to the industrial cider page. What do others think? --Linda 22:05, 13 November 2006 (GMT)

I'm glad you brought this up, I couldn't work out why this page had appeared in the first place. I agree, move relevant info to the Gaymers section of Industrial Cider - Mark

what about the pubs

You can see how the page began and subsequently developed from the history. By starting at the page as first created and pressing "Newer revision -->" at the top, you can get a kind of animated slideshow. Interesting if not terribly productive ;-)

Deletion is certainly an option, or it could be made more like the Orchard_Reserve page, also by Gaymers and linked to from industrial cider or something.

I can't decide which is best yet. The growing list of pubs which serve Addlestones may have some value if transferred to the appropriate Cider Pub Guide pages, but somebody seems to like adding them here, which seems a bit perplexing but doesn't really do any harm. If the page is deleted what will happen? We don't really know.

So I'm abstaining and waiting for futher discussion!--Andy 22:52, 13 November 2006 (GMT)

If there is going to be more and more information added for these Industrial Cider producers, it may be better to give each one it's own page and move everything (such as the Orchard Reserve page/Addlestones page) onto it's appropriate producers page, with links from an 'Industrial Cider' page. If each producer has it's own page you might as well leave everything including the list of pubs. Having seperate pages for individual ciders is a bit messy, particualrly as unlike, say, the Wetherspoon page, there are very few links to the Orchard Reserve page, and if one were needed it would be better to link to the Gaymers page anyway.

On a related note, I personally don't think it's even worth listing pubs which serve Addlestones on the cider pub guide, unless the pub sells another cider which meets the ukcider definition of a real cider. Similarly with Saxon etc. --Mark

Agree with most of the above. A page for each of the most well-known producers would be a good idea anyway, so we could hyperlink Westons, Thatchers, Biddenden, Broadoak etc. etc. where they crop up in pub entries.
It may occasionally be worth listing Addlestones in 'real cider deserts' - i.e. places where it's difficult to find a proper pint. What I've started to do is add italicised footnotes, rather than full entries, for pubs that are worthwhile but only serve a half-real cider (Addlestones, Stowford Press, Thatchers Gold). They don't take up much space, or count as full entries, but they do provide a little hint if you end up somewhere where good cider is hard to find.
