Scottish and Newcastle Brewery
Scottish & Newcastle plc was the name of an alcoholic drinks conglomerate with a headquarters in Edinburgh.
After a history of mergers and acquisitions, the company is now known as Heineken (UK) which calls itself "The UK's Largest Beer and Cider Business"
As far as ukcider is concerned, S&N is of interest as one of the two large industrial cider makers who between them dominate the general cider market.
Heineken UK markets cider through the subsidiary Bulmers who they acquired in 2003 for £278 million. S&N was then in turn acquired by "Carlsberg and Heineken" in 2008 for £7.8 billion and the new company formed changed name to "Heineken UK"
