Rockingham Forest Cider
Rockingham Forest Cider is a real cider producer based in Middleton on the Northamptonshire/Leicestershire border.
Rockingham Forest Cider is a hand crafted traditional cider, which is made from 100% freshly pressed apple juice. The cider is pressed, fermented and matured in the village of Middleton in the Welland Valley, which lies within the area of Rockingham Forest, hence the name!
Worcestershire grown Cider apples are used to make the cider, including the 'Vintage' Dabinett, Yarlington Mill and Tremlett's Bitter. These are blended with local 'Sharp' apples to give a good balance of tannin and acidity. The apples are hand washed and inspected, with only sound fruit making the grade, then milled and pressed to extract the juice. A cultured yeast is added to promote a vigorous fermentation and the resulting cider is matured through the Winter months, ready for drinking from early Summer onwards.
Rockingham Forest Cider contains no artificial flavourings, sweeteners or colourings, and is not filtered, carbonated, or pasteurised. The result is a naturally dry, mellow, and full flavoured cider, which may have a slight natural haze in the glass.
Should be available at the Criterion, Leicester and the Hatton Arms, Gretton, also the Northampton and Welland Valley Beer Festivals.
