Perry's is the name of a real cider producer based in Ilminster, Somerset.

So called because of the name of the name of family, the Perry's have been producing cider for over four generations at their farm in Dowlish Wake.

The actual business was set up in 1923 and not by a Perry, but by Bill Churchill. He began with the initial intention of making cider for local people who had neither the equipment, nor the patience to ferment the juice.

The business was later taken over by his two nephews Bert and Henry Perry, who continued but were keen to expand the business planting new orchards and investing in two new hydraulic presses still used today.

Bert and Henry Perry died in 1967 and 1993 respectively and now the business is run by Henry's wife Marguerite, their two sons John and Andrew and grandson George - who has recently joined the business.

Today, the family are still commitment to preserving the art of 'Real cider' making traditionally crafted, free from artificial colours, flavours, sweeteners and pressed from real Somerset apples.

The cider mills are open all year round for visitors to sample the atmosphere and traditions of a working cider farm and of course to sample the cider! There is a large collection of cider making and farming equipment and twin cider presses housed in the 16th Century thatched cider barn.

Visitors (coaches with prior warning) are welcome Weekdays 9am-5.30pm, Sat 9.30am-4.30pm and Sun 10am-1pm. Directions: 2 miles south of Ilminster. Follow the brown cart signs from Ilminster, Chard and Crewkerne. Open: All year. Google Map.

They make two draught ciders, namely a Traditional Draught Scrumpy and a Vintage Draught Scrumpy which are both 6% abv and available as dry, medium or sweet. These can be purchased online in 10l or 20l bag in box.

Special Single Variety Bottled Ciders are also produced using Dabinett, Somerset Redstreak and Morgan Sweet apples.
