  • 8 Friday 26th28th October 2012 - “MID WALES CIDER & PERRY FAYRE” ==

FROM PIP TO CIDER TO GLASS

It will take place at Glasbury House, Glasbury (near Hay-on-Wye) Friday 26th – 28th October 2012

We would be setting up a demonstration of cider production “from pip to cider to glass”

We have a cider producer who also sells cider apple & perry pear trees.

A demonstration of bee keeping, and the value of bees to pollinate the trees.

A manufacture of apple processing equipment, to add the scrating and pressing stage.

The programme would continue with a lecture on cider production including, advice on the fermentation, blending, and controlling the final alcohol contents.

Concluding with a glass to taste the results from the on site producers.

The fayre would also provide:

Cider & Perry tasting competition

Lecture on how to produce your own cider

Live entertainment on Saturday evening.

Real cider and perry is going through a big revival during these difficulty times, we are aiming to promote the Fayre to licensees, to hopefully get them to stock real ciders and perries.

Cider producers in Wales and the local area to come and offer their ciders & Perries. and hopefully build lasting contracts.

The general population who have an interest in cider & perry, to taste, drink, and produce.

Tickets £6 in advance, £8 on the gate. £2 discount for CAMRA & WPCS members with a valid card. Included with entrance to the Fayre, Cider & Perry tasting competition, lecture on how to produce your own cider, and live entertainment on Saturday evening.

Also available Food: Our chef has created a menu based on ciders and perries. Accommodation bunk house, camping, and B&B

A fantastic day out for any real cider enthusiast. A full demonstration of a variety of old fashioned vintage presses, including our 'Workman' steam driven press, the only one in the country that we know of that is still working. 13th and 14th October 2012 events.

  • Cider-Making Days - Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th October 2012

Join Bristol Cider Shop for a day making real cider with award-winning cider and perry maker James McCrindle. James will talk us through how cider is made, before sending us out into the orchard to pick our cider apples. We then bring them back for 'scratting', and make the pulp into 'cheeses', ready for pressing in the Victorian twin-screw cider press. It's hard work but there's plenty of time for a hard earned lunch and a pint or two! Everyone then takes away a gallon of the pressed juice to ferment at home into their very own batch of cider.

  • Charity Fundraising Cider Festival (Saturday 8th September 2012 ) - Cider Festival at Living Coasts, Torquay Harbourside, Beacon Quay, Torquay, Devon TQ1 2BG (0844 474 3366)

Details: This is an all-day charity fund-raising event for Living Coasts. The event starts with local acts performing in a marquee on the upper level of the car park during the morning. Gates open for the Cider Festival at noon with The Mangledwurzels will be performing three sets between 1pm and 5.30pm. There will be various other attractions including a Hog Roast, Children’s rides, charity raffles during the day - and Adi Byng's Pig Racing in the evening. Check with venue for ticket prices and availability. Living Coasts is an innovative coastal zoo and discovery centre where you can take a journey around the coasts of the world and see amazing animals and plants in specially-designed naturalistic habitats. It is an educational and scientific charity dedicated to conserving our global wildlife heritage and inspiring its visitors to have a life long respect for animals and the environment. The Mangledwurzels are a three-piece Scrumpy & Western band based in Somerset writing and performing in the style of Adge Cutler. Formed in early 2005, the band has established themselves across the West Country with their highly entertaining live performances blending classic Wurzels songs with self-penned original compositions and pop standards 'Mangled' in true Wurzels tradition.


The Continental's Ninth Beer Festival (over 20 real ciders & perrys on draft)(Thursday 27th 6pm-12am, Fri 28th Noon-Midnight, Sat 29th Noon-Midnight) Free entry The Continental's Beer Festival returns for its Autumn outing! Number Nine will be the biggest yet, with more beer than ever before and two huge marquees in the garden. Great food and loads of live music. The Continental’s Beer Festivals have seen thousands of happy drinkers come through ours doors and have become something of a Preston institution in the relatively short time since we reopened in the autumn of 2008. Ciders/Perries: 30+ ciders/perries will be available. Here are just some of the cider producers that have managed to be sourced for this festival: Ashridge, Dunkertons, Hecks, Rich’s, Perry’s, Burrow Hill, Olivers, Gwatkins, Wilkins, Gwynt Y Ddraig, The Orgasmic Cider co.

Alongside these fantastic ciders, there will also be some pretty special cider brandy, courtesy of Bristol Cider Shop.

Food will be available throughout the weekend, including some fantastic cheeses from Arch House Deli. Free entry to all sessions, plus join our free e-mail Club at the festival to win a £50 bar tab! It's the Ashton Court Balloon Fiesta this weekend too, so you can spot balloons, pint in hand from our terrace!

Details: An evening of Wurzels-flavoured, cider-fuelled Scrumpy & Western entertainment from The Mangledwurzels. Free entry. Normal pub opening hours; The Mangledwurzels will be performing from 8pm, with a disco playing before, between and after their sets. The Mangledwurzels are a three-piece Scrumpy & Western band based in Somerset writing and performing in the style of Adge Cutler. Formed in early 2005, the band has established themselves across the West Country with their highly entertaining live performances blending classic Wurzels songs with self-penned original compositions and pop standards 'Mangled' in true Wurzels tradition.

The Bristol Winter Cider Festival is one of the largest gatherings of real ciders and perries - and cider and perry drinkers - in the West. On offer will be over 100 ciders and perries including award-winning ciders from Somerset, Herefordshire, Hampshire and South Wales - as well as hog roast rolls and cheese platters, and a range of soft drinks for the drivers.
As well as the cider and perry, the Bristol Cider Festival will offer the best in local entertainment. Somerset's premier Wurzels tribute band The Mangledwurzels will be playing a full show at all three sessions, providing their own brand of Wurzels-flavoured, cider-fuelled Scrumpy & Western entertainment to help you drink up thy cider. The Mangledwurzels have played at all CiderFestivals.co.uk festivals across the country from Norwich to Swansea - and are guaranteed to entertain.

Bristol Cider Shop's third cider dinner with Bishopston Supper Club. Featuring 5 courses of seasonal food, each matched with a choice cider or perry, and many featuring cider as an ingredient. Details: Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club in association with Rich's Farmhouse Cider are holding their annual Wassail to raise money for charity (and ensure a good crop of apples, of course!).
