Cornish Orchards is a real cider producer based in Liskeard, Cornwall.
Cornish Orchards produce hand crafted apple juices and ciders using the harvests of small and old orchards throughout the West Country, something they started in 1999. Their farm has fifteen acres of orchards planted with over 1,000 old Cornish variety apple trees and holds a Duke of Cornwall Habitat Award. The harvesting of lesser known apple varieties such as Lord of the Isles, Tommy Knight and The Rattler is labour intensive and does not lend itself to substantial mechanisation. As their products are 'hand made' they can control the collection of the harvest, its handling, processing, blending and juice or cider creation.
Products contain no preservatives or colouring, but they do add Vitamin C during pressing, they say this is to stop oxidisation.
Their farm shop offers free tastings and also sells jams, chutneys and the like. The cider is kept in the fridge though, which can mask the real taste of the stuff.
Cornish Orchards produce 'Black and Gold' bottled cider and the award winning bottle fermented 'St Cuby's' (Both available in some Booth's supermarkets). Also maker of Skinner's Brewery Press Gang cider sold from bag in boxes via handpump, and 'Veryan Cyder'.
